In the premiere episode, Kevin Stone moves into Jennifer’s  trendy liberal neighborhood to be closer to his son and causes lots of trouble for his ex-wife’s idyllic life. Trying to play the “perfect neighbor,” Jennifer accidentally gives Kevin a housewarming gift that gets horribly misused.

Daniel’s big win in his Youth Soccer team sets the tone for the hilarious competition of this episode. When Daniel innocently invites Kevin and Summer to an exclusive family picnic planned by Jennifer, Kevin and Steven have a comedic dual of “male dominance” as the prominent father figure in Daniel’s life.

The competition gets fierce between Kevin and Jennifer when they vie against one another for a sought-after position on their local Neighborhood Watch Committee.

While Kevin and Jennifer vie for a coveted spot on their Neighborhood Watch Committee, their efforts to make the neighborhood “safe” for their son backfire when Daniel disappears, turning the campaign into a comedic mob of angry villagers in the search for the missing boy.

Relationships are unraveling in Glen Echo as age difference issues threaten to end things between Kevin and Summer. Meanwhile, Jennifer and Steven are unsuccessfully trying to have a second child, causing tensions between them. When a heart to heart exchange between Kevin and Jennifer brings them a little closer, they find they secretly still care about each other and have to face old feelings about their failed marriage...and each other.
